Jesus is a Colombian journalist based in New York City. He covers U.S. politics, culture, and global affairs for Newsweek.

He has lived in the United States since 2021. Before joining Newsweek, he worked at The Financial Times and at El Espectador, one of Colombia’s leading newspapers, where he was an international reporter and newsletter editor.

Jesus began his journalism career in Bogotá, reporting on healthcare, pop culture, and sports, before moving to political and international coverage. In 2024, he completed a master’s degree at New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, specializing in Journalism and Digital Innovation.

In 2020, Jesus was part of a team recognized for its innovative coverage of U.S. elections. He has also reported on stories ranging from Latin American politics, immigration and the global impact of climate change.

Jesus has received several fellowships and awards for his journalism. He was awarded the Rosalynn Carter Fellowship for Mental Health Journalism, the Dart Center’s Early Childhood Reporting Fellowship. His projects on Venezuelan migration have been supported by the Google News Initiative Startups Lab, DW Akademie, and the International Center for Journalists.

When he’s not covering Washington or world events, Jesus enjoys reporting about football (not soccer) and the intersection between culture and technology.
